If you are in pain or something doesn’t feel right, call us. We would always rather you call and find out it is minor than wait and let a problem get worse. Dental emergencies can escalate quickly, and prompt treatment almost always means a simpler, less costly outcome.
We do everything we can to accommodate same-day appointments for patients in genuine pain — often within hours of your call. Our priority is always to relieve your pain first, then address the underlying cause with a clear plan.
Hold the tooth by the crown (white part only) — never touch the root. Touching the root can damage the cells needed for reimplantation.
If dirty, rinse gently with milk or saline — not tap water. Store the tooth in milk, saline, or between your cheek and gum to keep the root cells alive.
Time is critical. Call us straight away and come in as fast as possible. Reimplantation is most successful within 30 minutes.
Never scrub or use soap on a knocked-out tooth. This destroys the delicate root surface cells essential for successful reimplantation.
Step 1
Describe your situation. Our team listens, assesses your urgency, and does everything possible to fit you in the same day.
Step 2
We prioritise emergency patients and will do our best to see you within hours — not days.
Step 3
Our first priority is getting you comfortable. We will manage your pain before addressing the underlying problem.
Step 4
We examine the tooth and take X-rays to fully understand the problem and discuss all your treatment options.
Step 5
We explain your options, costs, and next steps clearly before proceeding — no surprises, no pressure.
Step 6
We provide emergency treatment and schedule any follow-up care needed to fully resolve the problem.
When you are in pain and need help fast, you need a team you can trust. We are here for you.
We do everything we can to see emergency patients on the same day. Dental pain should never have to wait.
We explain everything we find and all your options in plain language before any treatment begins.
Emergency patients from Macleod, Rosanna, Watsonia, Bundoora, and all surrounding suburbs are welcome.
Call our practice first — we will do everything we can to see you the same day. If you cannot reach us and pain is severe, you can visit a hospital emergency department for temporary pain management. Do not ignore a dental abscess, as the infection can spread rapidly and may become a serious medical issue.
General dental treatment is not covered by Medicare except under specific government schemes such as the Child Dental Benefits Schedule. Many private health fund extras policies include emergency dental cover — we recommend checking your level of cover ahead of your visit, and we can provide a cost estimate when you call.
Call us immediately. If it is a baby tooth, reimplantation is generally not recommended as it can damage the developing adult tooth beneath. If it is an adult permanent tooth, follow the steps above — pick up by the crown, keep moist in milk or saline, and get to us within 30 minutes for the best chance of saving the tooth.
Over-the-counter pain relief such as ibuprofen or paracetamol can help manage discomfort temporarily while you wait for your appointment. Avoid placing aspirin directly onto the tooth or gum. Clove oil can provide some temporary topical relief. These are short-term measures only — please see us as soon as possible to address the underlying problem properly.
Severe toothache often means infected pulp — root canal treatment relieves pain and saves the tooth.
When a tooth cannot be saved, we perform gentle extractions and guide you through your next steps.
A dental abscess is often linked to gum disease — we treat the cause, not just the symptoms.
Don’t suffer in silence. Call our team and we will do everything we can to see you the same day and get you out of pain.
